Too much?

When your heart lies cold beneath your breast
And everything is telling you that it is over.
Do you give up?
Or do you keep fighting for what is lost and will never be found?
For what gave you purpose but now only gives you pain?
Is it worth the fight?
Is the end reward worth all the suffering that it took to get there?
Because sometimes I don’t know.
I don’t know what the end reward is,
So I cannot judge if the pain is worth it.
The toll on my mind and soul.
Is it too much?

The journey is supposed to be worth more than the destination.
But what do you do when the journey sucks?
When the anger and fear cloud the path ahead do we continue walking?
Despite the pain?
What is it that makes us keep moving?
That makes us persevere when the road gets rough?
When the path ahead is rocky and uphill.
It can be hard and stormy, yet we keep moving.
Because we know that rain doesn’t last forever.
And that things could always get better.
Hope holds us by the hand and walks with us.
Because without it we are lost.
And things are too much to handle.

But life is strange.
Circular.
Things can always get better.
Or we can find ourselves back at the beginning again,
Changed by the journey.
We may be back where we started,
Life may not seem like it has treated us fairly,
But everything happens for a reason.
That is what keeps daily life from pushing us off our path.
The hardest thing in this world, is to live in it.
